Winter Carnival & Spirit Week at Edward Little High School 2015
WINTER CARNIVAL & SPIRIT WEEK
We had a winter carnival/school spirit week. Every day of the week we did different things. Everyone shows school spirit and we have special days and events throughout the week. Monday was Hawaiian Day, Tuesday was Ugly Sweater Day, Wednesday was Wacky Wednesday, Thursday was Throw Back Thursday, and Friday was Maroon and White Day.
Monday - Hawaiian Day
In the morning we had a big game of dodgeball against the teachers. The object is to tag all players on the other side with the ball. The team that has players left wins. The teachers won and we weren't happy about that. Here is a video of it:
Tuesday - Ugly Sweater Day
We are having spirt week and on Tuesday we had Ugly Sweater Day. Ugly Sweater Day is when the students and staff bring in the worst or ugliest sweater they own. Ugly colors in the us are brown, grey, red and green sweaters. The idea is to have the ugliest sweater of all. We also took time to look at all of the creations of student artists and musicians in our school today. We had a big Art Walk. Art, music, and pottery was set up in the halls on the first floor of the school. You could bid on art that you wanted to purchase from student artists too. There was a place set up that you could throw colored powder on students too.
The teachers had a band too and we all went to the gym to hear them play. Here are pictures of the band and students singing with them:
Wednesday - Wacky Weds.
On Wacky Wednesday you really don’t know what you’d expect. It ranged from people having wigs and messy hair to miss matched clothes and Halloween costumes. You could laugh or you could “uhhhhh, no.” The weirdest thing I saw on this day was probably a kid wearing a gigantic green wig and mismatched EVERYTHING. Not one thing looked right on the kid. You can participate or note, either way, it’s fun to see our joining on . It is fun no matter what. Wacky Wednesday is a day were people can express themselves in ways that no one would expect. Wacky Wednesday is that one day were everyone can be who they are and dress silly and wacky. On this one day we are allowed to wear masks, capes, wigs, and all things crazy. Wacky Wednesday was by far my favorite because I saw everyone looking funny even strict teachers looked crazy! The reason we do this is to bring the community together and for seniors they are graduating. They want to have as much fun as they can before they go.
Thursday - TBT
Thursday was TBT (Throw Back Thursday). Kids and teachers can dress like they did when they were a little kid in the 1980s, 1990s, or early 2000s. Everyone was dressed differently and it was cool. We had actives during 3rd class and students could pick games they wanted to play in different classrooms around the school. We had popular American board games like Apples to Apples and Jenga. There were some movies being shown around the school too. Some students chose to make arts and crafts.
At the end of the day our whole school did a dance to Uptown Funk You Up and met in the gym. While in the gym the whole school danced together. A video was made of it. Here it is for you to view:

Friday - Maroon & White Day
Maroon and White Day is all about our school coming together with every student wearing maroon and white to show school spirit. At the end of the day the whole school has a pep rally. A pep rally is all about getting the whole school to gather in the gym to have a good time and be loud! We blast music, sing our school song, scream and jump around. The goal is to be the loudest school/person and not be able to feel your feet from dancing crazy. The whole time while we are in the gym for our pep rally we get loud and just show our school spirit! It is the time to be yourself and show who you actually are! The gym gets crowded and the noise never goes down! When the pep rally is over, your ears ring from all the loud noise! There were class competition games and races and a cake eating contest too where one student had to feed another student cake with their hands, behind their backs.
Finally the week ended with a dance. Students got dressed up and came to the gym for music and fun with friends.
Goodbye for now!
