A Typical Day At School In Auburn Maine, USA
Hello Friends!
We are writing to you today to tell you about what a typical day of school is like here in Maine, USA.
Most of us get to school by walking, riding a school bus, riding with our parents or driving a car. The first thing we see in front of our school building every morning is our school sign. Our school is named after a great man, Edward Little who donated the land the school was built on.
This is a picture of the student parking lot. It is where our seniors (12th year) park. If it is snowing really bad in the morning, sometimes school will start 2 hours late. So instead of getting to school at 7:45 am, we would get to school at 9:00 am. We go home from school everyday at 2:10pm.
These are pictures of the hallways at school. Usually there are many students in them.
The classrooms are far from perfect. Most of them have rugs floors and if they don't they have tiles. We just got new desks and chairs this year. Each teacher has a different seating arrangement. The wall colors of the classroom are usually just white and teachers hang posters. Each class has many books on bookshelves. There are windows in every class.
We are sophomores or 10th year students. These are the classes we take: algebra or geometry, English literature and writing, world history, biology or chemistry, and physical education class.
Our teachers work hard. Most of them are very informative on how we should behave and how much effort we should put into work. We have a say in how the class will run. We make up classroom rules and expectations together at the beginning of the year. We have things called standards that we must meet in order to move on with the next levels in our classes. If we do not meet them, then we do not move on. We like teachers who let us use our iPads for classwork and homework. We like teachers who allow us to listen to music while we are working individually in class. We do not like it when teachers do not let us use technology or assign homework every day. We do not like it when the teacher rushes through things and goes too fast.
In our school one of our most effective resources are our iPads. We use them for research and school work. During classes we are not allowed to play games or go on any social networks like Facebook, Snapchat, Skype, or Twitter. Sometimes it is hard to stay on task and sometimes students do get distracted.
That is all for today! See you soon!
