Hello Our American Friends!
We are the school learners of Zarechny Secondary School, the students of 11 ‘’A’’ class. We are in Mrs. Bozhko’s English classes. We have been learning English since the 5-th class. We can’t say that we know English as native speakers, but we try to improve our skills. We are happy to have met Mrs. Towns and Mrs. Neuroth in our school last April and now have a great opportunity to connect with you, being the part of our Global World.
It is untypical for you, but we have three schools: elementary, middle and high school in one building. There are 22 grades and 436 students in our school. The peculiarity of our education is that we study 3 compulsory languages: Russian, Kazakh and English. There are many other interesting school subjects such as Physics, Biology and History of Kazakhstan. Our school day begins at 8.15 and finishes 14.40 p.m. We usually have 7 lessons for 45 minutes and we have 15 minutes’ break for lunch after the third and fourth lessons. We usually eat in the school canteen. We have the same food as yours.
As for extracurricular activities we like sport and dancing. We have some sports clubs for playing soccer, basketball, volleyball. We hang out at the weekend and in the evening.
We live in the village called Zarechny with the population of about 6000. It is the suburb of the city Kostanay on the river Tobol. It is easy for us to get to the city as we have a good system of public transportation. We live in the northern part of our country with harsh continental climate. This week we had severe frost -28*C and the classes for elementary school students were cancelled. We envied them. Do you have the same weather with snowstorms and low temperatures? Are you on vacation now?
Sincerely yours
New Kazakhstani friends
