"I Have A Dream" ~ Inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

I want to share my students’ works on the topic “I have a dream”. There are some reasons for it.

Firstly, I adore the speech,  “I Have A Dream” by Martin Luther King.Jr., a well-known civil rights leader and activist who had a great deal of influence on American society. His birthday , 15th January, is celebrated in your country and I always speak about him and his great speech at my lessons.

Secondly, the beginning of Black History Month, being held  in February, coincides with the Presidents’ Day. It’s an opportunity for us not to speak about the achievements of African Americans and the contributions of the American Presidents into the development of your country. Thus, I offered my students to write their own speech with the same name thinking about what they dream or would like to improve in their country or in the world. Maybe your students would share their ideas too? P.S.  These are my graduates, the 11-th class. Last year they sent you the video about Kazakh tea and dastarkhan.

With best wishes,

"We all love to dream. In our childhood we had a lot of dreams and goals. They have changed much since then and have become more complicated and serious because our priorities have changed too. Now we realize that to make our dreams come true we have to be smart and successful and  work hard as well. For last two years my goal is to enter the Ural Federal University in Yekaterinburg, Russia. To do this, I attend optional classes for necessary subjects for admission, and especially Mathematics.  Another my dream is to visit Italy for the second time and stay there for a month to better understand their culture and rhythm of life. I have one more cherished dream which is more global, of course. I want to stop poverty on our Earth and provide poor people with shelter and food, with proper education, clothes and water. I know that it’s not so easy. I want to support children and old people with essential things for life and health and I hope to stop their tears one day."

"I have a dream that one day people of all nations, countries, sexes, nationalities and religions will be able to sit down together at the table of equality and people will never discriminate, blame, judge each other by the racial and sexual characteristics further. It seems to be typical and ordinary, but, unfortunately, humanity doesn’t use and follow such an easy rule of morality. This is trivial, but life.  Women in the Middle East and all the around the Asia, immigrants in the European countries and disabled people are deprived of rights and freedoms, suppressed by cruelty and injustice, not just because of a hard life, but because of other people and it is really terrible, such a walking nightmare. Sounds cliché, but I still believe in our community and community’s awareness. I have a dream that one day all women in the Asian, African and other undeveloped countries will have the same human rights as men have. Dreaming about the end of the violence and cruel acts, which are committed with women and little girls. People of different sexes will live in harmony and equal conditions. I have a dream that one day people will forget about all known stereotypes, which are connected with nations and will not judge others according to their nationalities only. The Russians , the Americans, the Kazakh and the Africans will help each other despite the fact that all of them came here from different world’s parts, we must all be treated the same! I have a dream that one day everyone will be able to look up in the sky and won’t be afraid of war anymore. A person will be judged by personal qualities, discrimination will be condemned on a par with other hard crimes. I have a typical and usual dream, but my dream is very important and should be evaluated and accepted as serious."

"I live in the Republic of Kazakhstan. I love my country but I have a dream. I would like to see my higher education and medicine free of charge. If medicine was free, how many lives would be saved, how many small children would live. Many people die because of expensive operations and expensive medicines. Free medicine is the way to a healthy nation. As for free education, I believe that this is the best solution that the state can undertake. Because of paid training, many really smart and capable people can not get their knowledge, as they do not have the opportunity to pay for studies and become a good specialist. As you know, there are very few good specialists in Kazakhstan. And also, it would be nice if  National Testing and final exams were abolished in my country , as I believe that this is a senseless waste of time and money. In my opinion, entrance exams to a higher institution are more sufficient. My final dream is  that my state will prosper every year."

I Have A Dream
"My name is Nastya. I am a student of the 11th form in Zatobol school-gymnasium. I have a dream.  I live in an independent state. Our country is getting to take the leading place in the world , but in my opinion there are a number of problems that need to be corrected. One of them is taking care of the elderly. Our old people need help and protection. I have a grandmother and I want her to have a happier old age. I'm sure that many will agree with me. Worthy pensions, free travel on public transport, discounts for food and medicine are the dream of every old-aged person in our country. I have once again witnessed that picture when our old people are sometimes rudely treated in public transport . We must fight against this. I have a dream! I dream of my grandmother's happy old age! I dream of a happy future old age of parents and myself!"

"It is hard to imagine the life without dreams. Dreams are something that inspire, make you set goals and develop your skills. I have many goals so it is possible to say that l have many dreams. My ultimate dream is to travel around the world. I have been dreaming of traveling since my childhood and this dream is still alive.I am madly attracted by other cities and countries. There are so many interesting things on our planet and I hope to see some of them with my own eyes. Traveling is one of the best activities a person can do. When you travel you learn about the cultures of other countries and visit unique places around the whole world.  I’d like to learn foreign languages, taste local dishes and enjoy my life. Traveling can be an invaluable experience for me, it can broaden my knowledge and help me to make friends with people from other countries. My desire to travel is directly connected with studying English, because it is an international language. English is easily understood in any part of the world. I like studying English, and try to work hard, to read English magazines and watch cartoons and films in English. I have another cherished dream which is more global, of course. I want to help people and benefit my country,  provide poor people with shelter and food, with proper education, clothes and water. Also I really love animals very much, I always care for them, try to save their lives and help in everything .  In the future I want to create shelters or specialized homes for pets. I know that it’s not so easy but I try to incarnate my dreams into reality. I want to believe that someday all people will understand how it is well to be kind. And then there will be no tears in the world, and the cheerful laughter will be audible everywhere! And for this purpose it is necessary that everybody become polite and more tolerant. Now my main priority is an excellent studying, because knowledge is power and thanks to it we can achieve a huge success. Now we realize that to make our dreams come true we have to be smart and successful and to work hard as well.  I want all my dreams come true!"

"Hello. My name is Eugene Fattakhutdinova. I learn in Zatobolsk school-gymnasium in the 11th grade. And now I want tell you about my dream, but first I will share my thoughts  about it. Everyone likes dreaming. Dream is a hope for better things. It helps us overcome the difficulties of our daily routine. For many people their dreams become their goals in life. They live and work for their best dream to come true. Some people imagine they have a lot of money, their       own house, an expensive car. Other people imagine themselves to be presidents of different firms or   corporations. Children often dream of having a new toy or a gadget.  Now I will tell you about my dream. I dream that education will be free for everyone in our country. After all, there are many people who would like to get the profession of their dream. Of course, you may tell me if I want, I should try and get a grant and I  achieve it. But sometimes you may not have enough points for entering a University. Causes can be different: stress, experiences, accidents, lack of places. Due to the fact that education is paid people do not fulfill their cherished dreams. Some professionals do not even have grants, that is, only paid training. But not everyone can afford to pay for study and the desire to learn . Now we are finishing the 11th grade and thinking about university entrance. Of course we  want to get a scholarship  to make it easier for our parents. I want to have free education in our county."
“I have a dream that one day education of Kazakhstan will be changed. I believe that students from all schools should learn only such subjects that they prefer. Unfortunately, traditional education has a lot of disadvantages and I would make studying process more interesting and helpful for future life. In our days school is not so flexible for students, because subjects seem boring for them. A school society should give easier information and demonstrate where this information will be useful. Secondly, all schools in Kazakhstan can exchange our teachers with others schools for a short period. And the last improvement of our education is  the recruitment of foreign teachers (if possible). In conclusion,I have a great dream that  my ideas can change the future of Kazakhstan in a better way.”

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. “I Have A Dream” speech, 1963
“Helping people is my dream. There is always one thing that makes us people. From the beginning of the history, people couldn’t live alone, they always were in need of society. This mandatory rule made human the most powerful and successful creation. Cooperative work helped people find a fire and tools. Nothing changed from those times. Scientists all over the world still work together inventing new high-technologies. Time showed that humanity wouldn’t be such progressive without modern model of society. Helping people makes us people, not animals. Everyone has a dream. Dream may be personal or global, but dreaming is still important and almost necessary for everybody. Without global dreams there will be no goals to reach. Unfortunately, some people still don’t understand that. Moreover, trying to achieve personal dreams, people forget about helping each other. Everyday we watch news, read articles in newspapers, and almost every crime was made with the purpose to profit. It shouldn’t work like that; such problems make society fall down and degrade. The major aim of everybody must be helping people who really need it, helping people who suffered from natural disasters, and helping people who don’t even have an access to clear water and basic food. The dreams come with important responsibilities, because it is not sufficient to dream without realizing. Helping others shouldn’t be something absolutely big, it could be helping a friend, a family or even a neighbor. Some people connect their lives with helping needy people. Social workers and doctors, for instance. But also politicians, scientists, teachers, professors help people. Thinking and dreaming about helping everybody who need it make our world a little better. We should understand the value of every assistance we do. Helping each other is ultimate purpose of living in society. To summarize it, I just want to say that every good act in our live will come back to its owner. Life is a boomerang, we must do good to get good. Not everybody have an opportunity to work with needy, but everyone can help. Thinking about others helps ourselves.”
