Hello Friends! School & Education Issues: Kazakhstan

Dear friends!

We would like to share the information about the life in our community.

It will be natural if we start with educational issues the teens have in schools as they are the places of bringing up of our country’s future generation.

One of the most common issues is personal relationship between teens. It is usual to face with bullying, especially between senior and younger kids. Students of high schools can tease elementary and middle schools’ children, force them to give them money or bring something from home, close them in toilets or fight with them. Sometimes it looks funny but it can hurt kids’ dignity and causes depression and uncertainty.

To prevent from such cases there are people who are responsible for it. They are school administration, psychologist, class teachers, village police officer and parents, of course! They conduct meetings, conferences, panels and private talks.

If it happens, it is announced at morning parades, class and parents’ meetings and they are shamed. Talking about more violent cases, it should be said that troublemakers are registered at the police and supervised.

As for racism and religious issues with the numerous cultures, we can declare in spite of multinational of our country we do not have such problems. It is connected with the right of citizens of our country to make their choice about the religion. However, destructive religious currents are banned by the government.

Another issue we have at schools is poor school funding because of the economic crisis in Kazakhstan. Many schools have two shifts of learning,do not have enough modern computers, computer software, sports equipment and new furniture for classrooms. Sometimes parents have to buy some textbooks for their kids as there are not enough free textbooks in school libraries.

The big drawback is wireless Internet so it is difficult to organize online conferences with students abroad. But we hope that one day the situation will be changed and our schools will be more comfortable and fully-equipped.

As for our school it’s enough well-equipped especially rooms for Physics, Biology, Math, Chemistry, English and elementary school.

You can enjoy looking at the classroom for English where Ms. Towns and Ms. Neuroth
were doing morning exercises before the beginning of the lesson!

You can also see our classrooms are fully-furnished.  We have enough new desks, chairs
cabinets and shelves.  There are many flowers so air is always fresh.

Thank you for your reading!  Next time we will tell you about our environmental problems and our volunteering which is our important learning project as we communicate with disabled children.
